As Volkswagen’s new all-electric vehicle for the upper mid-size class, the 2024 Volkswagen ID.7 is a sleek sedan with a spacious interior. The car is more practical with a sleek body, a more extensive infotainment system and faster charging speeds. And with a remarkable range of up to 700 kilometres, this car delivers impressive acceleration and efficiency.
The ID.7 is the base model of the all-electric upper mid-size class of vehicles. A massive 15-inch infotainment display and a huge battery enable the sedan to outshine all competitors. Plus, its aerodynamic shape helps it slip through the air for minimal drag as you enjoy the ride.
A smaller 77-kWh pack with an estimated range of over 400 kilometres delivers 282 horsepower for the base model while driving on a single motor. The top trim gets an 86-kWh battery with the same amount of horsepower but a range of 700 kilometres. The battery system is situated between the axles and underbody and takes about 30 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
Volkswagen integrates advanced driver assist systems, including an upgraded version of its hands-free driving software, called Swarm data. The tech helps the Travel Assist system determine various objects that are around the vehicle by combining lane centring with adaptive cruise control. Other features include Park Assist Pro with a memory function for up to 50 metres for manoeuvrability.
The huge 15-inch infotainment system screen integrates climate controls and sticks for volume and other touch sliders. A smaller digital instrument cluster lies ahead of the steering wheel to give you access to vehicle diagnostics. The sedan’s dashboard and steering wheel use haptic touch controls to help improve safety, mainly with various on-screen buttons.
With a wheelbase of 116.8 inches and a height of 60.6 inches, this sedan has a saloon-style profile but is more practical with a large boot opening. The smooth, wind-cheating shape with carefully profiled front end gives it a streamlined design to channel airflow along the sides. The curvaceous roofline also improves the drag coefficient, fostering potential driving range per charge.
The augmented-reality heads-up display, intelligent climate control system, and perforated leather seats create a premium interior. The vehicle also has ample legroom and headroom, especially with the battery pack on the floor. The fastback-style really makes it look like a practical hatchback for more accessible loading into the rear cargo area.
