The Jetta is among the most traditional models from Volkswagen. The carmaker first introduced it in 1979, and it was such a success that it keeps on getting updated and improved almost every year. The new 2023 Volkswagen Jetta has a better engine, more muscles and plenty of high-tech tools. Come with us and explore the new lineup.
Performance and Driveability
The new Jetta has only one engine available for the entire lineup: a 1.5 TSI turbocharged engine. It has a torque capacity of 184 lb-ft and 158hp and two transmission options: a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic.
The fuel efficiency varies according to the transmission choice: The automatic option gets 7.7L/100km in the city and 5.7L/100km on highways. Meanwhile, the engine with a manual transmission gets 8.2L/100km and 5.6L/km, respectively.
Interior and Exterior
The new Jetta can seat up to five passengers, with three options of upholstery: cloth, leatherette and leather. All seats are in Titan Black colour, except for the Highline, which also has Volcanic Brown; other colours can be chosen for an additional fee. There are different adjustments for the driver’s seat, depending on the trim, and independent heating for the front seats. There’s also a panoramic sunroof available for the Comfortline and Highline.
We’re talking about a pretty long sedan, with 4738 mm long, 1799 mm wide and 1465 mm tall; buyers can choose either 16” or 17” wheels. Standard exterior features for all trims include LED headlights and tail lights, as well as DRLs (Daylight Running Lights). The exterior mirrors are also heated and power-adjustable.
Tech and Safety
Technology serves both safety and comfort in Jetta’s lineup. Even the basic trim has handy tech features, such as a 6.5” touchscreen display with Volkswagen Digital Cockpit and an 8” instrument cluster.
The touchscreen display is upgraded in the flagship model, with a 10.25” configurable instrument cluster. All models have Bluetooth and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There’s also SiriusXM satellite radio available for Comfortline and Highline. The sound system has four speakers in the Trendline and six speakers in the Comfortline. Those buying the Highline will be treated with a BeatsAudio Premium Audio System with six speakers.
All trims have a comprehensive list of driving assists, which include cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rearview camera and hill hold assist. Comfortline and Highline have more assists, such as blind-spot monitoring with rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, light assist and travel assist.
